Q: How did you meet Billie?
A: I met Jean as what she liked to be called when Shirley rented me a trailer Rocky Mount but what I remember most about was the love she had for her children and grand kids. She never grew tired of talking about them and about her dad. On holidays I usually received left overs of the meal she prepared I felt like I was there at the table. Later through the years I felt a friendship growing and spent a lot of time calling her just to chat. I finally called her Grandma out of deep respect. The last time I talked to her was shortly before she passed away. I will never forget her and will miss her greatly.

Wishing comfort to Jean’s family and friends as everyone remembers and misses her.
Jean was a kind and cheerful person when I met her in the late 1960s. She taught me how to check in the little corner store in downtown Eldon. I remember her being so proud of her kids when she talked about them. She was a hard worker, but always stopped to acknowledge everyone. She loved well.

Q: What will you never forget about Billie?
A: She always had a smile on her face. I was very young when she worked at what I called the toys store up stairs. It was on Main street across from The insurance place in Eldon. At Christmas time we would go up there an pick out the toys we would like and there they would be under the tree every year. She was a blessing. I will never forget the smile. Very SWEET Lady!!!

My deepest condolences to Jean's family and friends.
I've known her since I was a little kid. I've grown up with her always being at the store. My visits to the store won't be the same. And I'll miss my visits with her.
She was a spit fire. Thats what I loved most about her. I've seen many people come and go over the years. But Jean was the one consistent person you could count on was going to be there.
She is going to be missed dearly by the whole community.

Shopping in Eldon won't be the same without Miss Jean. That store could change names, change owners, but Miss Jean was the constant. I always felt so sorry for her, never being able to retire or enjoy her life. I will miss Jean and I will never forget her.

I met Miss Jean when I started working at Woods in 2019. She was so very kind always helpful and so very patient. She was a good teacher. She was always a light of sunshine for me. We hit it off from the beginning, and became good friends. We would enjoy lunches together on our days off, and her and my mother would enjoy some trips to Boonville, which we all know she loved!! She was a beautiful, fiery lady, that you didn’t want to cross! The store will never be the same without you and neither will we. My sweet friend I will dearly miss you. Until we meet again fly high angel fly high. I love you Miss Jean Love Shelly
